Scabies is a most uncomfortable contagious rash that can make your skin become flaky and filled with spots. Here's how to get rid of the irritation.

Steps


  1. Consult with a dermatologist immediately.
  2. Ask for a special lotion for the rash.
  3. Change your blanket and wash all dirty clothes and sheets with bleach.
  4. Wash your skin thoroughly with soap detergent. Start the lotion treatment following that.
  5. Vacuum floors, carpets, and rugs.
  6. Disinfect floor and bathroom surfaces by mopping (this only needs to be done after the first treatment).
  7. Wash recently worn clothes, towels and bedding in hot water daily. Drying a hot dryer.
  8. Hot dry pillows for 30 minutes.
  9. Freeze stuffed animals, brushes, combs, shoes, coats, gloves, hats, robes, wetsuits, etc. overnight in a plastic bag
  10. Dryclean things that cannot be washed, hot dried or frozen or quarantined.
  11. Quarantine things that cannot be washed, hot dried, frozen or drycleaned in a plastic bag for two weeks.

Warnings


  • Avoid using Steroids or corticosteroids should not be used to combat itching. These can cause a weakened immune system creating various new diseases and the worst type of scabies.Options include antihistamines such as cetirizine. Prescription: Doxepin (Sinequan - oral or Zonalon - topical).
